Brew York was born out of two friends passion (some would say obsession) for beer and brewing. Creating Brew York was the realisation of a long lived dream to build a brewery in the centre of York where the experience and location is as enjoyable as the beer itself.
The current city centre brewery consists of a 20 hl Brewhouse and over 260 HL in Fermenting and Conditioning capacity. This gives us the ability to produce a core range and the flexibility to produce the more ‘out there’ seasonal and one-off beers that really excites us.
Construction is currently underway for our new state of the art twin 50 hl brew house along with 1,050hl fermentation & conditioning capacity, on the outskirts of York. We hope to have production underway by the end of 2020. We have exciting plans for the city centre brewery once the new facility is online. Watch this space for news.
Our beer is produced in Cask, Keg & Can and sold throughout the UK and is now widely available internationally. Our brewery is located within York’s historic city walls, a 15 minute walk from the station. A very unique Taproom with riverside beer garden has been constructed right alongside the Brewhouse to showcase our beers at their freshest.
“How Beer making has changed. there are now many breweries that craft wonderful ales along with this fantastic brewery. The times have changed since my days working in a Brewery were it was all about volume and very little about quality. These days the quality is of the highest order with Hop varietals growing on a daily basis. Caned beers selling in excess of £8 a can now seems normal. Finally the craft of ale making is now no different to wine making in that if you want quality it needs to be paid for and that the cost is justified by the quality”.
