Merlot is well suited to the soils and climate of the Dealu Mare region and was one of the most widely planted varieties in our region. The Merlot ripens usually in the middle part of October depending on the year. 2013 was an exceptional year for Merlot. To achieve its fruity characteristic we ferment this wine at around 25°C for up to 20 days. After malolactic fermentation is complete we place 70% of the wine in three-year-old American and Romanian oak barrels up to 5 months after which it is blended with the rest of the wine.
